Can a streched RNY pouch shrink if soda is stopped?

i am 16 months post RNY surgery and have been drinking  6-10 Diet Cokes a day for over a YEAR.   My stomach has stretched and I can eat just about anything I want in the pre-surgery amounts.  I am acared.,,.., all my new clothes are tight and some are too small,...

Does anyone k now if the pouch will shrink if I quit the sodas?

To be honest with you I hear different stories.  The only thing I can say is try and stop drinking soda and see what happens.

Different doctors believe different things.  Different people believe different things.  I personally believe that soda does not stretch the pouch out.  HOWEVER, that being said, it is also pretty widely accepted that, for some reason, drinking sodas tend to cause weight gain BECAUSE they trigger the hunger for the bad carbs and foods.  You eat more and more of these bad foods  and gain weight.

Stop drinking the sodas and start the 5 day pouch test and see what happens.

I would suggest doing the 5 day pouch test.

This is the reason they say no soda ever again after surgery. I guess some people have to learn the hard way. You can shrink your stomach some, but it will never be the way it was after surgery.  All you can hope for now is giving up the bad habbits and food and start eating healthy and working out.  You may lose some weight like that.  Remember, the changes you were instructed to make were life long.

I would do what Darlene said.  The 5 day pouch test is the best thing to do.  It works and gets you back on track.  I wish you luck, it's a hard road, and RNY is for the rest of your life, you can gain every pound and then some when you don't follow the rule.  You will forever have to watch what you eat, and drink!
